What's Happening in Secondary
Written language skills are the main focus in Year 8 English. They are all working on some creative writing whilst developing their use of grammar and more sophisticated punctuation; a skill they will take with them through to the end of their high school journey.
Year 9 Science
Are currently studying the Immune System. This week they conducted a practical using bakers yeast to test the effect of various temperatures on the growth of pathogens

Year 9 History has been all about the beginnings of our nation; examining the transition from a penal colony to a proud nation. They have focused on the development of the Australian Identity and how “we are one, but we are many”. Next week they will transition into an in-depth study of our nation’s involvement in both world wars and how this made us strong, reliant, and resourceful.
Year 10 History is developing their understanding of the current political situation in Australia through their study of the struggle for various rights that we now take for granted. They have examined the stolen generation, and the freedom rides and will now begin to look at how these past issues and events are influencing our current politics with the upcoming “Voice to Parliament” referendum later this year.
Year 11 Modern History are busy refining their understanding of the historical investigation process and has made some awesome progress in their understanding of how History influences our lives. The class has had some lively discussion on the value of source material and are now venturing into the world of conducting their own research; they even went to the local library to learn how to utilise this resource. Year 11 Standard English is also well on the way to developing the analytical skills they will require for the HSC next year. So far they have deconstructed written and oral texts from a range of authors, and are writing some short pieces of their own that reflect the aspects of writing being studied in class.
